Who Is She?

Chris Brazelton was born and raised in central Minnesota, the third child of eleven born to Marge and Jerry Julkowski. A National Honor Society student and editor of her high school’s newspaper, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Metropolitan State University with a B.A. in social science.

Chris has worked for pay since the age of twelve babysitting, house cleaning, hosting tours of model homes, waiting on tables and cooking. After graduating high school, she worked in sales and marketing for several years. A single parent upon divorcing an abusive first husband, Chris returned to school and worked two and sometimes three jobs at a time: advocate and support group facilitator for a domestic violence prevention agency, QMRP for a non-profit organization for children with developmental disability and emotional disturbances, paralegal for a small law practice and a waivered service coordinator through the children’s mental health collaborative. Chris has been a Child Support Officer since 2003.

Beyond this experience in the private, non-profit and public sectors, Chris has had leadership roles in several volunteer organizations: community improvement work in Minneapolis and then in Delano, president of the General Federated Women’s Club of Delano, Delano Dream Team, Delano Area Council for Arts and Culture, Delano United Diversity Task Force and the Delano Artists’ Guild. She is also a member/supporter of SFA (Sustainable Farming Association) MPR (Minnesota Public Radio) and TPT (Public Television).

Chris is currently married and she and her husband have two adult children, plus additional children they helped raise in foster care, a growing number of grandchildren, two of whom have Autism.

Her strengths are in making connections, problem solving through consensus, working with humor and compassion.
