Child Care costs
It is becoming more and more unaffordable for parents of young children to go to work, yet in order to keep up with the cost of housing, food, healthcare coverage and transportation often both parents must work outside the home. Child care costs can eat up most, if not all, of at least one parent’s paycheck. Average cost of child care is about $13,00 per year PER CHILD. Child care providers have bills to pay, too, and deserve a living wage. Other countries with advanced economies have figured out that in order to remain productive and support families who wish to have children, helping young families and child care providers by supporting affordable child care is critical.
